Marianne informed me earlier this week that 'only' 35 people signed-up for the annual season opening trip of Peddelpraat. If I wanted, I would not be needed as an assistant. I immediately signed myself up as a participant, but only if that meant that she did not need more assistants with me joining as a participant...
Well, 50 turned up. Breaking a previous record of 40+. For this Peddelpraat tradition there are no 'caps' (yet) on number of participants.
I was not put to any task, and today I did not volunteer either :-)
I found myself in the very luxurious position to be 'only' a participant, that happens rarely nowadays. What a great experience. Highly recommended for any club trip leader to at least once a year to paddle 'incognito'. Roaming around, chatting about. Gorgeous weather and just enough wind to feel the waves and wetting the appetite for a new season of sea kayaking.
